Going sailing definitely is very different to when you go on holidays ashore, a mix of adventure, luxury, tranquility and excitement which can appeal to one and all!
Sailing trips are different to any other type of holiday for a number of reasons, one of the most important ones is lack of limitless space on board! The other one is that while sailing, you may end up sweating during the daytime, but feel chilly when night falls. With this in mind we present the ideal packing list for your sailing holiday so you will enjoy every moment on board and get the most out of your yachting adventure with Aegean Sea Cruises!
Essentials: Start planning your packing by selecting the right luggage! When you come on board don’t pack excessively. A duffle bag or even a back pack should be more than enough for a week’s sailing. Any hard-cased suitcase is difficult for your skipper to bring it on board and will fill up space in your cabin that you wish you had available for yourself!
For both men & women the necessary clothing you should consider bringing is:
Ladies particulars: A couple of strap tops, few vest tops, and 5-6 t-shirts will be enough for a week. A pair of denim shorts, a couple of dresses for a night-out and underwear will be the utmost essentials for a lady on a yacht! Sandals since you’re sailing Greece are also a must!
Men particulars: Guys, this is mostly so you don’t forget the important stuff! So, a couple of jeans or linen trousers along with a couple of shirts will be enough for looking like a yachtie when ashore! Apart from swimsuits, flip-flops, jacket and sunnies, a pair of closed shoes will be fine for when you’re about to go for a stroll & don’t forget your undies & a belt!
On our way to the western part of the Kavala Coast we will have the pleasure of enjoying the endless blue of the sea and most of the time we will meet dolphins who will follow us almost to Nea Peramos to swim with us and try to compete in speed . A beautiful sight not to be missed.
During the trip our captain will prepare a hot coffee. Traveling towards Nea Iraklitsa we will pass by Kalamitsa beach and our first stop is Batis Beach where we will anchor.
A little time for a few dives in the turquoise waters and then we continue exploring the west coast, heading towards Nea Iraklitsa.
Our first stop after Batis beach is Palio and Nea Iraklitsa beach for swimming and free time. On the way there we will pass by the island of Fidonisi. You will see seagulls and cormorants (shags) building their nests on the shoreline. It is even possible to see dolphins in their natural habitat.
On our way to Ammolofi we will sail from Cape Vrasida and then continue our journey to the long beach of Ammolofi where we will have free time to enjoy the turquoise waters of the location.
We will then anchor at one of the best Beach Bars where we will have free time for swimming, refreshments and lunch, prepared by the crew (extra charge). We will have free time during which those who wish can also try fishing, *we will provide you with all the necessary equipment (not included in the price).
On the way back we pass the west coast of Nea Iraklitsa. The beautiful coastline and stunning views offer us a relaxing and unforgettable cruise.
On the way back we will stop for an afternoon short stop for a swim at the beach of Pali.
To complete our cruise, we will retrace our steps to the port of Kavala.
